ALTERNATIVE SALKANTAY TREK - MACHUPICCHU - 5 DAYS

This is one alternative route to get Machu picchu in five days with camp. This area have an amazing view to beautiful mountain of salkantay, the high altitude that will pass is 4,600masl this is why most of people have to be in a good fisica condition for do it, also you have to know that there is available horses during the route in case need it. at the end you will enjoy of Machu Picchu.

Itinerary:

Day 1.- Cusco - Mollepata Village - Comunity of Soraypampa
Hike 7- 8 hours.
Pick up from your hotel early morning in our private transportation to travel till District of Mollepata located aprox. three hours out site from the city of Cusco where we stop for breakfast and buy things that we need for the route. Then begin the walk about three hours till the place called Cruzpata for our lunch, here we have a nice view the Nevado del Umantay (6,000masl), then continue the walk about five hours finding a diversity of flora and fauna. Finally we will arrive to camp of Soraypampa to spend the first night with a nice view of Umantay and Salkantay over 3850 masl.

Day 2: Soraypampa - Chaullay
Hike 8 - 9 hours.
After breakfast we start the trek and climb from 3,700masl up to 4,600masl the passage of Salkantay which will host a ceremony to the Apu Salkantay with coca leaves, which involve to all members of the group and the master of ceremonies will be the your guide. After this ritual we descend going through the community of Huayraq pampa and Rayampata, from this point will descend to the camping site called Chaullay (1900msnm) in this area will see a variety of bamboos, ferns, mosses, palms, orchids, etc.. Likewise, we will see a variety of birds till arrive to our campsite where we will be spending the second night.

Day 3: Chaullay Camp site - Santa Teresa District
Hike 5 - 6 hours
This day we woke up at 6:00 am to begin the trek after breakfast. From this point we descend to the forest, we will be watching different streams, waterfalls also you will seeing a variety of jungle fruits like papaya, passion fruit, avocado, banana, orange, coffee plantations, coca, etc.. Also be seeing a variety of birds such as quetzals, parrots, toucans, hummingbirds and some communities as Collpachaca, Lluscamayo and Sahuayaco Beach where we have lunch. Then from this places we will take the bus until Santa Teresa District where we will make our camping, then we will be taking a transportation or walk to go to the hot springs of Cocalmayo located aprox 30 minutes walk , where we will enjoy for a period of two hours, then we return to our camp for dinner.

Day 4: Camping of Santa Teresa - Town of Machu Picchu
Hike 3 - 4 hours.
Breakfast at 7:40 am. then we prepare our camping equipment and then will start to walking from Santa teresa till Hydroelectric where we will stop for lunch. During the way will see some typical houses and a variety of fruits, we will visit a nice waterfalls where can take a good shower, you can do an sport adventure zip line. Then we will have a two hour walk along the right bank of the Urubamba till arrive for the lunch. Finally we will walk till Aguas Calientes, the rest Inca and if we are lucky we will be seeing the cock of the rock bird that represents the jungles of Peru and finally we reach the town of Aguas Calientes, where we the night in a hotel.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Full day walk.
We got up at 4:30 am for breakfast and then take the bus to Machu Picchu Archaeological, here we have a control of our passport, then we will enter to watch the sunrise then visit the citadel of Machu Picchu with our guide for 2 hours, then you have free time to explore the place of Machu Picchu. After enjoying the huge stone structures made by the Inca civilization, we will return to Aguas Calientes to catch our train back to Cusco arriving evening around 22:00hrs
