CHINCHA INFORMATION
The province of Chincha (95m above sea level) is located in the northern edge of Ica (400m above sea level), its extension is of 2987km2 according to the demographic index, and it has a population of 179,732 habitants. The province of Chincha is at 200km of Lima (3m above sea level), and it is identified as the crib of Afro-Peruvian folklore. Its typical Afro-Peruvian clothe is simple. In the district of El Carmen, dances of black lineages are practiced, like; festejo, lando, zapateo (stomp), panalivio and counter-point. The afro music is typical of the population in Chincha and their use of percussion instruments like the cajón, maracas, tejoles, guiro and the quijada de burro (donkey jawbone). This music is typical in all the coast, mountain and jungle and is very popular to listen it in all visited places. Its international festival “Verano Negro” (Black Summer) is where the black cultural protests outstand, showing culinary arts and typical beverages to the world. Chincha is a hospitable place with cultural attractions, its Pisco, wine and its rhythmic dances to their Peruvian Cajones and Zapateo.
