Ica – Nasca - Flight Over Nazca Lines

PERU ADVENTURES - 16 DAYS

Itinerary:

Day 01: Lima Airport Hotel
Reception and transfer to the hotel.

Day 02: Tour at Lima
IIn the morning, we start the tour in the capital city of Lima. You will visit both colonial and modern places, which include visits to the Cathedral, Convent of Santo Domingo, the government palace, Miraflores, Barranco, and the circuit of beaches. We head back to the hostel at 6:00pm.

Day 03: Lima-Paracas - Ica
Very early, at 5:30am, we begin the three hour bus ride to the port of the Paracas National Reserve. A two hour tour of the Ballestas Islands presents us with: sea lions, penguins, dolphins, and more than 200 species of birds found here. After the tour, we travel fifty minutes to the city of Ica to visit vineyards and the area famous for producing internationally known Peruvian wines and Piscos. We'll lunch (optional) and then visit the desert oasis, La Huacachina. We'll rest for an hour and then have time to visit some museum before settling in for the night.

Day 4: Ica – Nasca - Flight Over Nazca Lines
Private transportation delivers us to our hotel after an initial two hour journey. We’ll then head to the Nazca Airport for our briefing before flying over the Nazca Lines. You will do a forty to fifty minute flight over the enigmatic Nazca lines. At the end of the flight, we will tour some important areas such as the Chauchilla cemetery, view the artisan ceramic process and see manufacturers of artisanal gold. At the end, we have a traditional lunch and take the rest of the afternoon for relaxing or exploring. We'll spend the night in a hotel.

Day 05: Nazca - Arequipa
In the morning, we depart in a private vehicle to Arequipa and our hotel. The trip will be approximately ten hours with many stops visiting different interesting places along the way.

Day 06: Arequipa City Tour
Today we’ll save for acclimatization and free time. After lunch, at 2:00pm, the tour will start in the city, visiting the most important places of Arequipa, such as the Cathedral, Monastery of St. Catalina and other interesting places. At 6:30pm, we return to our hostel and receive our briefing for the next day.

Day 07: Colca Canyon
Breakfast is at 7:30am so we can catch our bus to the Colca Valley, a four hour ride. In our tourism bus, we absorb the beautiful landscapes and gaze at the Volcano of Misti, Chachani, and the vicuña habitat which surrounds us. Following the 4600m of altitude we must climb, we finally descend into Chivay. We have lunch and settle down in our hostel before taking the remainder of the afternoon off. You can then take the option to visit the hot springs of La Calera, located 2 km away.

Day 08: Chivay Mirador del Condor-Arequipa
After breakfast, at 5:45am, we start toward the Colca Valley, seeing beautiful landscapes and arriving at to Cabanaconde after two hours. From the Mirador del Condor, you'll have a beautiful view of the canyon and, of course, the spectacular flight of the condors. After enjoying this wonderful place with a view of the canyon and the flight of the condors, we return to Chivay, along the way visiting some interesting, areas typical to Peru. Lunch is enjoyed and we return to the city of Arequipa, arriving at approximately 5:30pm. We overnight in the hostel after a briefing for your trip to Puno.

Day 09: Arequipa – Cusco - City Tour
After breakfast, we transfer to the Arequipa airport to fly to Cusco. We are received and brought to the hotel in Cusco for a welcoming drink of coca tea and the morning free to acclimatize. At 1:30pm, we have rested and start the city tour, visiting such sites such as the Cathedral, the Koricancha Museum, and four archaeological sites: Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Pucca Pucara and Tambomachay. At 6:30pm, we end the tour.

Day 10: Sacred Valley Cusco
After breakfast, at 8:40am, we begin the tour of the Sacred Valley, including the Pisaq Market and the Pisaq archeological zone. We continue up the valley to Calca and Urubamba for a lunch buffet before exploring the archeological zone of Ollantaytambo in the afternoon. We’ll return to Cusco by way of Chinchero to visit its colonial church, its archeological zone and market, before returning to Cusco at 6:50pm. We'll hold the briefing with our guide about the trip for the next day.

Day 11: Aguas Calientes Cusco - Machupicchu 2 days.
After breakfast, we'll go to the San Pedro Train Station to take the four-hour ride directly to the town of Aguas Calientes, next to Machupicchu. The trip is very comfortable with beautiful landscapes and nice mountains on the route. After arrival and accommodation in the hostel, we’ll have the rest of the day free to roam around the village or go to the hot springs. You can also climb the mountain of Putucusi, where there is an impressive view of Machupicchu. In the evening, we have dinner and a briefing with the guide for the visit to Machupicchu.

Day 12 Machupicchu - Cusco
We start early to take the first bus or walk to Machupicchu. A three-hour guided tour of the most important parts of the ruins follows, and then you’ll have free time to climb Waynapicchu or simply stroll around other areas of interest in Machupicchu. We return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (optional), and at 4:20pm, we take the train back to Cusco or Ollantaytambo, arriving at approximately 8:20pm in Cusco and returning to our hotel.

Day 13: Cusco - Puno
At 7:30am, we leave to the Inka Express Bus Terminal to travel about ten hours total on our way to Puno, with a variety of stops to visit the sights on route. We’ll enjoy a guide and personalized service on board, in addition a good lunch. We arrive in Puno, transfer to the hotel and hold the briefing for the next day’s trip.

Day 14: Isle of Urus-Amantani Puno
The tour begins at 7:30am with the pickup of passengers from their respective hotels. We board the boat and the presentation of the guide begins our journey. The first point we visit is the island of Urus. This place is known for the skill of its people in the making of their homes and in the manifestation of their artisanal craft: handmade totoras, reed boats. After a tour, we continue the trip to arrive a few hours later on the island of Amantani. Here, we spend the night in family house with basic services, and visit the island with a guide. We enjoy a welcome dinner and folk show.

Day 15: Amantani - Taquile Islands - Puno
After breakfast, we continue to Taquile Island, where we spend much of the day getting to know the customs of her people. Taquile is known for the warmth of its people and the quality of their textiles. We will also visit the Inca and colonial areas. We return to the city of Puno at approximately 4:30pm and return to your hotel.

Day 16: Puno – Juliaca - Lima
After breakfast, we drive forty minutes by car from Puno to the Juliaca to the airport and you fly back to Lima.
