The archeological center of Tambo Colorado was an administrative center in the Inca time. It is located approximately at 265km south of Lima city, on the way to the Panamericana Sur in San Clemente. It is on the road “Los Libertadores”, from which we have access to Ayacucho and at 35km east, we find this impressing Inca architecture, on the way to the district of Independencia and Humay. Tambo Colorado is an impressing place located in the arid soils of Montesirpe where the Pisco River is born.

Program Description:

Our private van will transfer you from your hotel in Pisco or Paracas in the morning through the districts on Independencia and Humay where we will visit its main square and its local church explaining its social and cultural development. We continue until we arrive to the archeological complex of Tambo Colorado that was the administrative center and very important in the Inca age; it is one of the most preserved of Ica. We will visit the site museum with our guide where we can find archeological pieces founded in the desert of Monte Sierpe. We will visit the main squares of Tambo del Inca and we will visit the cemetery in the zone. Finally, we will visit the hacienda house Monte Sierpe where we will try a very good wine of the zone and our traditional beverage; Pisco. Prepared in an artisanal way, as well, on our way back we will have lunch in a local family house enjoying an exquisite dish of the zone firewood cooked. Return to the hotel.
