The Fossil Paleontology Tour is located in the Ica desert and corresponds to a marine sedimentary sequence that extends for 348 kilometers from the central part of the coast. Currently, there is a desert full of fossilized skeletons in the pampas of Ocucaje, south of the city of Ica. With the Fossil Paleontology Tour, we have the opportunity to visit the best sites to observe Cenozoic marine fossils that have been preserved to this day.

Tour Itinerary: Our tour begins with a convenient hotel pickup at 7:30 AM. From there, we’ll travel south to the Ocucaje district, a scenic journey of approximately 50 minutes. Before embarking on our desert adventure, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase any necessary supplies. Next, we’ll embark on a guided hike, accompanied by a professional paleontologist guide. We’ll gradually explore the area, observing fossils distributed across different sites. Despite the passage of time, these remarkable fossils remain visible, and in some cases, remarkably well-preserved. Following our exploration, we’ll have the option to visit a local winery at the Ocucaje hacienda, if it’s open for business. This provides a chance to savor some delicious local wines. Finally, we’ll return to the city of Ica, arriving back at your hotel around 12:00hrs.
