Itinerary

Itinerary for Alternative Salkantay Trek MachuPicchu:

Day 1.- Cusco – Mollepata Village – Comunity of Soraypampa

Hike 7- 8 hours.

With Alternative Salkantay Trek MachuPicchu Pick  up from your hotel early morning in our private transportation to travel till District of Mollepata located aprox. three hours out site from the city of Cusco where we stop for breakfast and buy things that we need for the route. Then begin the walk about three hours till the place called Cruzpata for our lunch, here we have a nice view the Nevado del Umantay (6,000masl), then continue the walk about five hours finding a diversity of flora and fauna. Finally we will arrive to camp of Soraypampa to spend the first night with a nice view of Umantay and Salkantay over 3850 masl.

Second day: Santa Maria-Santa Teresa with Alternative Salkantay Trek MachuPicchu

After a good breakfast, we’ll begin our hike of about eight hours, passing part of the original Inca Trail along the way, and hiking through the jungle where nature surrounds us with green, fruit trees, rivers and exotic animals. Also, on the way, we’ll take a refreshing dip in the hot springs of Cocalmayo and finally end the day with a final hike in to Santa Teresa (1900m). We’ll stay in a family hostel and dine locally.

Third day: Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes

After breakfast, we’re off to experience nature, adventure and adrenaline again, as we get closer to Machupicchu. Today we’ll have a pleasant climate that ranges from 25-30°C. We will cross bridges used by locals, use oroyas (which is quite an experience) and then finally we’ll reach the village at the base of Machupicchu, Aguas Calientes. Here you will stay in a comfortable hostel.

Fourth day: Aguas Calientes – Cusco – Machupicchu

After a very early breakfast, we hike about sixty minutes to the Machupicchu ruins. Here we’ll see the cloud forest and other natural wonders at dawn. We will have almost the entire day to visit the archeological site, with a professional guide who will make this last day an unforgettable memory and experience for each of us. Later, we’ll descend to Aguas Calientes, lunch and return to Cusco by train, arriving at approximately 8:0pm.
